Austin is really several roofing markets wearing one name. Central neighborhoods east of MoPac carry housing stock from the 1930s through the 1960s, and on a great many of those roofs there is more than one layer of shingle. The movement that produces is not seasonal, it is permanent and uneven, and it shows up on a roof as ridge separation and as flashing that has been pulled away from a chimney or parapet rather than as anything wrong with the shingles.
